I was flipping through the latest Simplicity catalogue and saw a new men’s pattern that wasn’t bad at all. Simplicity Pattern 9279 is an interesting men’s pattern because of the drop shoulder design with the over sized sleeves. Right away I knew exactly how I was going to make my next button up shirt. I used the longer sleeves from view A and the shorter shirt body from view B to give myself more of a boxy design overall. I modified Simplicity 9043 pant pattern that I designed by dropping the crotch 4 inches, making the inverted pleats regular pleats, and last added a 2 inch cuff on the hem. For the pants I used an amazing suiting from Melanated Fabrics that I started to like more during the process, because I wasn’t a huge fan of it prior to starting this project. The floral shirt was from Melanated Fabrics as well and it came in two different color ways.
