Basic button rules when wearing blazers & suit jackets…
When I’m out and about everyday I can’t help but to notice more guys are making an effort to dress up. Dress clothes come with details that shouldn’t be missed, rather than dressing casual. After having a blazer or suit jacket tailored that fits perfect to your body, knowing how to wear it is the next important step. Below are examples of the most common used jackets with two & three buttons, as well as, the double breasted jacket.
When wearing any blazer/suit jacket the golden rule is to never button the last button. So, when it come to the two button jacket keep it simple and just button the one.
Here we have the three button jacket and you’re allowed to button the first two buttons together and leaving the last one unbuttoned. You can also wear the middle one buttoned up by itself, but the top button is never allowed to be buttoned up alone.
The rules don’t change even with the double breasted jacket. The double breasted jacket has one button that is hidden on the inside and you must always wear it button up. There are two buttons visible on the front of the jacket and the top button is the only one that needs to buttoned, but never the last one.
